The focus of Dominions has generally been on the multiplayer, but there are a number of fans who primarily or exclusively play singleplayer. Is this a multiplayer-only game or is there a worthwhile singleplayer mode? There have been some enhancements to the AI and singleplayer should be more challenging as a result, but it is still quite simple to fight compared to human players. I guess the question is, do you feel Dominions 3 or 4 were worth the cost? And if so, do you think it would be worth to pay a similar price again for a better Dominions? I cannot personally make an honest judgment one way or the other as to whether it is worth the cost for the singleplayer-only demographic, though I've talked with several players who think so, and there was at least one member in the closed beta test who mainly plays singleplayer and very much did appreciate all the changes and held a particular fondness for the new blessings system (which you may learn more about via Illwinter's website or perhaps by watching a tutorial or Let's Play series on YouTube). But then you probably wouldn't be asking that question if you were. It is certainly much more flashy and dramatic, when projectiles and spells fly in from both sides at once.įor those who are active in the multiplayer scene Dominions 5 is obviously worth it. While I play almost exclusively multiplayer, I think that the new combat system holds equal appeal to those who exclusively play singleplayer. ![]() ![]() The features it sells itself on are mostly the same, with perhaps one or two additions per iteration, plus the earlier features being refined and expanded upon.ĭominions 5 certainly diverges much more dramatically from 4 than 4 did from 3. It is true that Dominions remains - at its core - the same game between iterations, albeit each time refined and improved further. Is Dominions 5 worth it if you already own Dominions 4 or 3? You'll need to find the saved games folder (you can access the data directory through the in.-game tools menu) and the newlords subfolder and unzip the linked file there.
